We're proud at RUX to be able to give back to organizations that are making a difference in the environmental stewardship space. Through our 1 Percent For the Planet commitment we've been able to donate thousands of dollars over the last two years to environmentally-focused charities, and we're excited to continue this commitment into the future.
The Surfrider organization is keenly involved in plastics policy, clean water, beach access, ocean protection and coastal preservation. We partnered with this amazing organization last year, and have been lucky enough to take part in a few of their initiatives, including supporting their fundraising efforts, and participating in a Tofino beach clean up in celebration of International Coastal Clean Up Day. They use the RUX 70L on field work, monitoring microplastic levels on the West Coast beaches.
This initiative is near and dear to us, as the waterways they've committed to protect, Átl’ka7tsem or Howe Sound, is right out the front door of the RUX headquarters in Squamish, BC. MSI works to protect the diverse economic, ecological, cultural, and social values associated with Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound’s ocean and freshwater. They are able to use the RUX 70Ls in their field work, including an annual herring count, monitoring a fish critical to the entire food chain of the Howe Sound.
Through our RUX Storytellers we are proud to support initiatives they feel strongly about, including Bitterroot Land Trust and Equiterre.
