Role: Bookkeeper/Accountant Office Manager
Hours: Half time (20 hrs / week)
Salary Range: $25-$30/hr
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant with experience in retail sales, payroll, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, a thorough understanding of payroll procedures, and familiarity with manufacturing operations product sales. The ideal applicant is digital savvy, with experience learning/adapting to new software and apps. This role will involve handling financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, processing payroll, and supporting manufacturing-related financial activities. On a secondary level there will be some office manager responsibilities. This role can be remote but the ideal applicant is located in Squamish, BC for at least a weekly visit in the office.
Deliverables:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Prepare and process invoices, receipts, and payments in a timely manner.
- Record financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations.
- Process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, benefits, deductions, and taxes.
- Calculate and remit sales tax in Canada and California.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Stay updated on relevant payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to track and record production costs and inventory levels accurately.
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing-related financial reports, such as cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing operations. Analyze expenses and identify areas for cost reduction or process improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and manufacturing regulations.
- Generate executive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide regular financial analysis and insights to management, identifying trends and recommending actions for improvement.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations.
- General ‘office manager’ administrative assistance: including but not limited to supply purchases, data/reports from other departments, shipping logistics support, scheduling, equipment, planning.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
- Past exposure to retail sales & manufacturing is a substantial asset
- Proficiency in using accounting or ERP software in a retail and manufacturing setting is ideal. We are still streamlining our systems, the ideal candidate can help guide us.
- Excellent knowledge of payroll processing and familiarity with relevant legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members, employees, and external stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
- A degree or certification in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
