There’s something special about a trip with no fixed plan, just a direction, a handful of gear, and a willingness to say yes to whatever shows up. That’s exactly how we’re kicking things off this month at RUX.
We’re heading to Sea Otter. But like any good adventure, the destination is only part of the story.
Our First Stop: Outside Van
On our way down, we’re making a very important detour to Portland to pick up our brand new van from Outside Van. This isn’t just a gear upgrade. It’s the start of a new partnership we’re seriously fired up about.
We’ll be rolling out in the Approach, their purpose-built adventure van designed to make life on the road seamless. Built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter AWD chassis, it seats and sleeps four, blending capability with comfort in a way that makes it feel less like a vehicle and more like a mobile basecamp.
What stands out most is how thoughtfully everything is put together. From integrated storage and flexible living space to off-grid power and cooking setups, it’s designed so you can just go. No friction, no overthinking. Just pack up and move.
That’s something we believe in deeply.
Because at the end of the day, what Outside Van does for mobility, RUX does for organization. They help you get there. We help you bring what matters and actually find it when you do.
No Plans, Just Possibility
Once we’ve got the keys in hand, everything else is wide open.
No rigid itinerary. No overbooked schedule. Just a simple goal:
Be ready for whatever adventure shows up.
If there’s snow, we ski.
If there’s dirt, we ride.
If there’s swell, we surf.
And if there’s a random turnoff that looks promising, we take it.
That’s the beauty of having a dialed setup. The Approach is built to handle real use, from hauling bikes to living off-grid, and when everything has its place, spontaneity becomes the whole point.
The Bigger Picture
This trip is more than just a road trip to Sea Otter. It’s the start of a season and a mindset we’re leaning into hard this year.
More time outside.
More events.
More community.
More "let's just go and see what happens."
With our new van and a pile of RUX gear in the back, we're building a rolling example of what it looks like to be ready. Not overpacked, not underprepared, just dialed.
See You Out There
We'll be sharing the journey as it unfolds. Corn snow, questionable surf, trail days, parking lot hangs, and everything in between.
If you're heading to Sea Otter, come find us.
If you see the van somewhere unexpected, come say hi.
And if you’re sitting on a plan, maybe loosen it a little.
Follow along on Instagram to see where we end up next, what we’re getting into, and how the setup evolves along the way.
Because the best trips usually don’t go exactly as planned anyway.
