Slim Chance is Outside Van's first concept conversion built on the new 2023 All-Wheel Drive Sprinter chassis. Outside Van's industry-leading concept vehicles are a showcase of the design and craftmanship that are a hallmark of Outside Van's dedication to building rugged and premium adventure vans dedicated to each individuals wants. Something that elevates Outside Van above all other van builders. Slim Chance is a fully loaded custom conversion, and building on the new chassis required a lot of finesse, fine tuning, and testing to ensure a seamless adventure van experience.
Working directly with Agile Off-Road out of California, Slim Chance features a brand-new RIP Kit suspension upgrade featuring Fox Shocks dialed in specifically for the increased weight of the conversion and the performance characteristics of the new All-Wheel Drive system. Slim Chance was then taken out to the formidable wash outs of the Southern California desert and thoroughly tested for off-road performance.
The primary feature of the conversion is the brand new murphy bed and gear wall. Building a conversion on a 144 chassis is a balancing act requiring forward-thinking design to accommodate for the reduced space of the smaller chassis. Since Slim Chance's primary function is to be a support vehicle for gear heavy extreme water sports, modular storage is a necessity that could not be compromised. Using a combination of strategically placed L-Track and MOLLE Panels, the gear wall can be configured in an almost endless amount of ways to mount and store all the gear needed for a day on the water.
Complimenting the gear wall is Outside Van's gear glider, which is mounted to the floor and can be slid out for easy access to stored items. It features L-Track mounting points, perfect to hook your RUX 70L to using our Utility Hooks. There is also a Yakima Skybox 12 mounted on the roof rack. MOLLE Panels have been mounted throughout the van and provide a truly personalized modular storage experience only limited to the imagination. The gear wall has can be un-latched and folded down to reveal a bed platform with memory foam cushions. Utilizing a murphy bed style system allows Slim Chance to maximize usable storage space without compromising on features that are essential to all Adventure Van conversions.
Slim Chance features a best-in-class power system centered around a 960 Amp-Hour Lithium Battery Power system which a number of ways to be charged. When on-grid, Slim Chance can be plugged directly into shore power, but when off-grid, the batteries can be charged either by a secondary alternator or a 140-Watt solar panel mounted on the roof. The system powers the outlets, along with all components such as the premium JL-Audio sound system, air compressor, Milwaukee Tool Packout tools, as well as the Starlink. The system also powers the Rigid Industries external light package which includes a 50" light bar, SAE fog lights, 360 Series fog lights, side scene lights, and dual radiance pro backlights.
Another innovative feature of Slim Chance is the Dual Galley System that is compromised of two bamboo islands that are bridged via a folding panel that creates an expansive kitchen space. The galley features a stainless-steel sink that draws filtered hot or cold water from the 24 gallon fresh water tank, microwave, refrigerator, and an induction cooktop hidden by the fold out extension panel. The driver side island features massive storage drawers that can accommodate a plethora of pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery while the passenger side island features a fold out external work table and a hidden spice cubby.
The external work table combined with the connectivity of the Starlink is an optimal space for digital nomads who want to work off-grid while utilizing their breaks to hit the river for a quick ride.
Finally, to round out the key features of Slim Chance, is a brand new external wet platform. Working in collaboration with Pakmule, this platform is mounted to the hitch and features CNC-cut teak wood inserts and a robust shower curtain system that allows for showering privately outdoors, elevated from the ground.
Slim Chance marks the pinnacle of Outside Van's innovation and has been proudly unveiled as the flagship concept conversion this year.
